Business Value<\/u><\/p>\n

A company that you do business with might be both a customer and a vendor. When that’s the case, you can avoid making unnecessary payments or receipts and save on transaction fees by consolidating the customer and vendor balances.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before you consolidate balances, you have to specify a few settings on the Marketing Setup<\/strong> page. On the Interactions<\/strong> FastTab, you must specify business relation codes in the Customers<\/strong> and Vendors<\/strong> fields. Business Central uses this information to determine the type of relation to display for contacts.<\/p>\n

Link an existing customer and vendor company through a contact<\/u><\/p>\n

To consolidate the balances, you must first link the customer and vendor companies through a contact that has the type Company<\/strong>. A customer or vendor can only have one contact of the type Company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

  1. Choose the customer or vendor, and then choose the Contact<\/strong> action.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2. If the Contact Business Relation<\/strong> field contains a value other than None<\/strong>, you must remove the relation. To do that, use the Business Relation<\/strong> action, and then delete the relation.<\/p>\n

    3. Depending on whether you chose Customer<\/strong> or Vendor<\/strong> first, choose the opposite party. That is, Choose the vendor or customer, and then choose the Contact<\/strong> action.<\/p>\n

    4. Choose the Link with existing<\/strong> action, and then the Customer<\/strong> or Vendor<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n

    5. Choose the Customer<\/strong> or Vendor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Consolidate the Customer and Vendor balances<\/u><\/p>\n

    The Customer Card<\/strong> page offers the Balance<\/strong> as Vendor<\/strong> field, and the Vendor Card<\/strong> page includes the Balance as Customer<\/strong> field for companies that were created or linked to the same contact company.<\/p>\n

    On the Payment Journal<\/strong> page, you can use the Net Customer\/Vendor Balances<\/strong> action to net the Customer and Vendor balances for the company.<\/p>\n

    The Net Customer\/Vendor Balances<\/strong> action creates payment journal lines to which the net balances for a Customer and Vendor are linked.<\/p>\n
